CONGRATULATIONS! YOU FOUND A HIDDEN CHARACTER’S PROFILE! 🎉
“Don’t fret… I can save you. You don’t have to suffer anymore… so please… love me.”
Zanni is a glitch character in Ageha in Wonderland. They were once a member of the Party Clowns before Pierrot’s absence reseted the entire plot, rewriting the current and updated version of Ageha in Wonderland series we see today. They were initially a timid face painter—now turned into a desperate and mentally unstable young doctor who yearns to be loved by ‘saving’ others with their disturbing ways.
CONTENTS
William lived in the ‘older’ version of Ageha in Wonderland, where Ageha did not die from overdose of sleeping pills but died from jumping off the hospital rooftop. This older version of the story also consisted a lot of darker themes—whereas Loki was a former patient of an asylum, Kiel was the heir of an Italian mafia, and Lottie was a former prostitute along with Six and Nine. There, William was a part of the Party Clowns as a face painter, and also as the younger brother of Martin whom he was separated from.
In this version, Pierrot did not exist but served as simply the ‘narrator’ (the story was originally going to be a novel). However, Pierrot’s role as the narrator lost its purpose. During this time, this is when Wonderland suffered a certain mental breakdown that lost its will to continue living. This affected the story and altered everything. After some time, Wonderland eventually healed and rewrote the story, however forgetting William’s existence.
William’s ‘deletion’ turned him into a glitch. The reason why he was not entirely deleted was because Pierrot, the former narrator, returned as a new character. Pierrot, holding all the memories of the previous story, intended to form back the Party Clowns together again. However, due to the story’s modifications, the whereabouts of the Clowns also changed and Pierrot is forced to rebuild the Party Place. Loki, no longer an asylum patient; Kiel, no longer a mafia heir; and the three dolls, no longer prostitutes.
William, now turned into a glitch called Zanni, also holds the memories when the other characters did not. They believed that traumatizing them will bring them back together, so Zanni inflicted hardships on the others; they spread fire into Loki’s orphanage, they took away Kiel’s singing talent, and caused Lottie’s scandal. They did not interfere with Martin, Amelia, and the twins’ rewritten history as it has already passed.
After bringing the original Party Clowns together, Zanni’s last target was Ageha, who remained in the hospital in the real world. As a glitch, Zanni is able to shift into Wonderland and the real world, where they sneaked a bottle of sleeping pills on the bedside table of Ageha’s room, knowing that Ageha is suicidal enough to take an overdose of it. After Ageha’s eventual ‘suicide’, Zanni became eager to return to Wonderland to reunite with the others, but is met with a dead-end, unable to shift back. This is when Pierrot sensed Zanni’s presence and went on searching for them to complete the Party Clowns once more.
Zanni’s desperation to enter Wonderland and Pierrot’s disappearance as a narrator to search for the latter caused the remaining (sleeping) Guests to go missing in Wonderland, sending them to many different zones and backrooms. Fortunately, the Eye Angels have sent them back to the real world. Of course, this matter alarmed the WCPD which strikes the conflict of this rewritten lore.
Zanni possesses an extremely naive and hopeless demeanor, resulting in their unstable mentality and childish way of thinking. They are hyper-aware of many things and often wonders in incredibly deep thoughts about their existence and sense of self. Zanni is very sensitive, both physically and emotionally, and is very desperate to ‘be saved’ at the cost of their sanity, wanting to be ‘loved’ by Ageha after they ‘saved’ her from an eventual crisis, and bringing the Clowns together by causing new hardships into their lives—also giving them a ‘hero complex’. This makes Zanni neglectful and ignorant of their faults. However, this also makes them exceedingly caring and thoughtful of others, albeit in eerie ways.
Despite being glitched, Zanni still bears the same characteristics they used to have prior to Wonderland’s breakdown, as William. As mentioned, they are timid but very creative and imaginative, although disturbingly—such as Zanni’s great innovative ability to create a sleeping drug on his own to ‘save’ patients from death and lead them to Wonderland. Zanni does not hold any ill intentions or malice to their actions as they are very desperate to return as ‘normal’ and live with the Clowns once more. As confused as they are to their crimes, they would do whatever it takes to relive the story despite their ghoulish transformation.
Zanni bears the similar features as the twins and Martin; being as thin and pale, although their appearance shows a more twisted and unsettling expression as a result of their unstable sanity. They have messy dark purple hair and white-colored fringe. They also have big and wide eyes that looks more ‘realistic’ than the usual style, with a spiral pupil on their left eye, and the right devoid of life.
Zanni wears a classic showman fit but it is paired with shorts, a red scarf, and colored with muted colors, along with lighter colors such as lavender and sky blue—as well as a flower pin. They wear black jester shoes. Although not seen, there are small syringes contained in Zanni’s vest, and pills in their pockets.
Zanni, being a glitched character, can interfere with the lives of their friends in Wonderland. This ability allows them to ‘write’ a certain hardship by causing oddities in a character’s new life. Basically, this makes them an ‘Eye Angel’ as they are able to spectate Wonderland as an ‘entity’. But unlike the other Eye Angels, Zanni can interfere with lives and the whereabouts of Guests, making them somewhat superior than the latter—as well as very fearsome.
As a self-proclaimed doctor, Zanni has knowledge of many things, including every bit of the other character’s characteristics, and is in the belief that they can solve their ‘problems’ with this knowledge. This knowledge also allows them to concoct a drug and form pills—which they become the creator of illegal sleeping pills called ‘Sleepy Weepy’ that only Ageha can take. These pills cannot be seen by other people in the real world since it is meant only for Ageha to be seen, touched, and used.
Zanni is able to shift into reality and Wonderland but they cannot control where to take the destination. In the real world, Zanni is invisible since they are not ‘human’ but an ‘imaginary figure’, but they can still interfere as they can in Wonderland. Here, Zanni was able to sneak sleeping pills and have Ageha take them before they could shift back to Wonderland, however lost to a ‘dead-end’. This resulted in their glitch preventing them from entering. Instead, Zanni was able to descend to the Entrances and the Nightmare Zone.
Zanni considers themselves as Ageha’s savior, as being the one who gave her the sleeping pills that brought her to the Clowns. This makes Zanni believe that Ageha would be capable of appreciating and loving them, neglecting the thought that they basically took Ageha’s life. Zanni dotes on Ageha and is rather obsessed with the thought of reuniting with her, since she was one of the few people who approached them back when they were ‘William’, who was forced to become someone’s boyfriend but doomed to be infatuated with another. Despite being aware that Ageha has completely forgotten about Zanni, much less William, they are desperate for Ageha’s love and attention—so much that they’d keep Ageha in Wonderland forever.
Zanni is envious of Loki; not only the latter got to meet Pierrot, the original story’s narrator himself, but also got to spend time with the Clowns and create new memories without them. In the older version of AIW, William and Loki were on bad terms due to their opposing personalities, so this influenced Zanni to hold a bit of grudge against the new Loki. Meanwhile, although Loki lost all memories of William’s existence, let alone acknowledge Zanni’s absence, he still senses familiarity regarding the case of the ‘entity’ that he knows is lurking within the Party Place. Loki himself believes that he has once met this ‘entity’ yet is unsure how, so he made efforts into ‘interacting’ with it.
Zanni respects Pierrot as a leader and a father-figure, since Pierrot is the only one among all the characters who is truly concerned about them, and the only one whose memories of them remained. Pierrot is also willing to do whatever it takes to ‘save’ Zanni and bring them back to the Party Clowns in order to continue his role as the narrator and help Zanni from losing their insanity to their deletion.
